Hong Kong Tycoon Offers $65 Million To Find Husband For Lesbian Daughter

HONG KONG — The daughter of a flamboyant Hong Kong tycoon — who has offered $65 million to any man who can woo her away from her lesbian partner — said she’s not upset with her father. Still, it’s unlikely she will be accepting any of the marriage proposals flooding in.

Cecil Chao made world headlines this week when he offered the unusual marriage bounty after learning that his daughter, Gigi Chao, had eloped with her partner to France.

Hong Kong decriminalized homosexuality in 1991, but it does not legally recognize same-sex marriage.

Cecil Chao is the chairman of Hong Kong property developer Cheuk Nang Holdings and has a reputation for being a playboy.

He once claimed to have had 10,000 girlfriends but has never married. Read More

The net worth in the room: $126 billion. The historic photo folds out as the cover of the 30th annual Forbes 400 issue, the definitive ranking of America’s wealthiest people.

The richest women may span the globe, but two of them come from the same family: the Waltons.
Two of the Walmart heirs capture spots two and and four on Wealth-X’s list of the world’s richest women. Valued at $29 and $28 billion respectively, the two women are part of a family that’s worth the same amount as the bottom 30 percent of Americans, according to an analysis from a labor economist at the University of California-Berkeley.
Other super-wealthy women that made Wealth-X’s cut include Australian mining mogul Gina Rinehart, valued at $29.1 billion, and French socialite Liliane Bettencourt, who is valued at $24 billion. Read More

Young adults from affluent families are more likely to live at home than their poorer counterparts, a new study from Australia’s Melbourne Institute has found (via the Wall Street Journal). Three quarters of 20-year-olds from wealthy backgrounds live at home, while less than two-thirds of young adults whose families used welfare still rely on them for financial support, the report finds.
