Lil Wayne Launching Skateboarder Clothing Line

Weezy F. Baby is branching out once again and will be launching a new clothing line designed for skateboarders.

The line, called Trukfit, will debut on January 23 and 24.

The line was inspired by Lil Wayne’s passion for skateboarding and quality street wear.

Trukfit is made from fabrics that feature bold graphics and will sell at a moderate price point.

Russell Simmons (founder of Def Jam Records)

Hip Hop originated in New York during the 1970s, Russell Simmons (GlobalGrind.com) along with wealthy punk rocker Rick Rubin were the first pioneers of the hip hop music genre to create a record label empire; Def Jam records.  Def Jam introduced the world to legendary artists such as RUN DMC, LL Cool J and the Beastie Boys in the 1980s which led to immediate success, turning Def Jam Records into the biggest record label in Hip Hop during this time period.  In today’s world Russell Simmons is more interested in yoga and occupying Wall Street rather than breaking the next big artist.  Therefore the door has opened for new moguls to takeover the throne and create empires for the 2012 generation.   GWOP Magazine staff has put together a list of the top Hip Hop/Rap Record labels for 2012.  Nas said ‘Hip Hop was dead in 2006’, well these labels are destined to prove that the music genre has only suffered a heart attack and there is no need to panic.  Checkout the full list after the jump.

Young Money Entertainment has announced plans to release the Young Money Prepaid Discover® Card that can bee purchased online at www.youngmoneycards.com.

The concept for the Young Money Card was developed by Horace Madison, founder of Madison Strategic Integration and business manager for Lil Wayne and Young Money, along with card-veteran Buddy Smith.

“We’re excited about giving people who may not have access to traditional banking accounts the convenience of plastic,” said Madison in a statement.

Wayne wants to keep it simple and sleek, but load it with benefits that are meaningful to Young Money cardholders.”

Tim Clark, CEO of ACCENT also released a statement saying,

“Young Money artists have such a strong following, as demonstrated by their 50 million and growing fan count in social networks.  We are excited to be working with such a powerful brand.”

Makers of the card boast that they’re keeping fees to a minimum and the card only has six fee types, including a $6.95 card purchase fee, with $3.95 monthly maintenance thereafter.
