Tiger Woods is still the highest-paid athlete in the world–and it isn’t even a close call. Woods earned $75 million over the past 12 months, easily outdistancing second-ranked Kobe Bryant, who made $53 million.
Woods can thank two long-term sponsors for his hefty income. Nike signed Woods to a five-year, $40 million deal when he turned pro in 1998. Electronic Arts released its first “Tiger Woods PGA Tour” videogame in 1998.

GWOP Newz: Kreayshawn Signs $1 Million Contract with Sony
Hip hop newcomer Kreayshawn is a million dollars richer after Sony inked her to a recording contract, Miss Info reports.
The Oakland rapper/filmmaker and self proclaimed “rap beast” first gained some local attention by filming music videos for Bay Area artists, most notably Lil B. It wasn’t long before she went into the booth herself to record the mixtape ‘Kittys X Choppas‘ which spawned the local hit and video ‘Bumpin Bumpin.’ But it wasn’t until she released the video for “Gucci Gucci” did major labels start scrambling to sign her.
With a label deal now secured, Kreayshawn and her White Girl Mob crew (Kreayshawn, her sister V-Nasty and DJ Lil Debbie) are ready to take on the hip hop world.

Gil Scott-Heron, the poet and recording artist whose syncopated spoken style and mordant critiques of politics, racism and mass media in pieces like “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised” made him a notable voice of black protest culture in the 1970s and an important early influence on hip-hop, died on Friday at St. Luke’s Hospital in Manhattan. Lady Gaga’s ”Born This Way” Album Set To Sell 1.15 Million in Its First Week

Billboard projects that Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” will debut with first-week sales of at least 1.15 million units, far outpacing earlier projections, thanks to explosive sales at Amazon, which priced the album at 99 cents for two days this week.
According to sources, “Born This Way,” scanned 330,000 units at Amazon on Monday, even though the unprecedented traffic derailed the Amazon servers. While the Amazon experience left some consumers in a sour mood, the news on the technical glitch helped heighten awareness about the album (not that Interscope and Lady Gaga needed any help.
As a make-good for customers who experienced difficulty in downloading “Born This Way” on Monday, May 23, the merchant priced the album again at 99 cents on Thursday (May 26). Industry sources told Billboard.biz that the second-day availability of 99-cent prices generated approximately 110,000 scans, nearly all of which were the 99-cent version.
But even without a second day of 99-cent pricing, “Born This Way” was on its way to a million-unit debut week, sources told Billboard. On the first day alone, the album moved at least 500,000 units, with sources saying that first day sales at
iTunes totaled 104,000 units;
Best Buy, 45,000 units;
Target, 35,000 units

Starbucks, 10,000 units.
