Filmmaker Spike Lee is currently in the final stages of post-production of a Michael Jackson** documentary that focuses on the King of Pop’s album Bad and ensuing world tour.

The film, which syncs up nicely with the album’s 25th anniversary, features 40 interviews done by Lee with Jackson’s confidants, choreographers, musicians and other collaborators. Lee also interviewed contemporary stars from Kanye West to Sheryl Crow (a backup singer on the Bad tour) about the album’s lasting influence.

40 Acres and a Mule Filmworks presents a special early sneak peek at Red Hook Summer, the new Spike Lee Joint. In theaters everywhere this August.

Red Hook Summer is the latest in Spike Lee’s Chronicles of Brooklyn (which also include SHE’S GOTTA HAVE IT, DO THE RIGHT THING, CROOKLYN, CLOCKERS, and HE GOT GAME), RED HOOK SUMMER tells the story of Flik Royale, a sullen young boy from middle-class Atlanta who has come to spend the summer with his deeply religious grandfather, Bishop Enoch Rouse, in the housing projects of Red Hook. Having never met before, things quickly get off on the wrong foot as Bishop Enoch relentlessly attempts to convert Flik into a follower of Jesus Christ. Between his grandfather’s constant preaching and the culture shock of inner-city life, Flik’s summer appears to be a total disaster–until he meets Chazz Morningstar, a pretty girl his age, who shows Flik the brighter side of Brooklyn. Through her love and the love of his grandfather, Flik begins to realize that the world is a lot bigger, and perhaps a lot better, than he’d ever imagined.

Less than a year after his death, the life of technology guru and Apple Inc. co-founder Steve Jobs will be honored in an upcoming independent biopic entitled “Jobs” starring Ashton Kutcher.

The TV and movie actor, who bears a striking resemblance to a young Jobs, is slated to begin filming the movie in May during his hiatus from “Two and a Half Men.” The plan is to begin production before a rival film, based on writer Walter Isaacson’s lauded Jobs biography, gets off the ground. Jobs died on October 5, 2011.

“Jobs” will be directed by Joshua Michael Stern (“Swing Vote”) and will chronicle Jobs’ rise from a Northern California hippie upbringing to the co-founding of Apple, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
