I hope you don’t think the G-Wiz , with lead-acid batteries rpeeesrnts the state-of-the-art for electric cars. Lead-acid is 100-year-old battery technology.*I’ve been an electric vehicle hobbyist for many years. I do own an older electric car (a Jet Electra Van) with lead-acid batteries, but I made sure that my car uses common golf-cart batteries these are very inexpensive, and easy to replace about $800 or so for the set.*My other car is a Chevy Volt. The Volt, as well as the Nissan Leaf, uses lithium-manganese-spinel batteries. This is a much more modern battery technology, which will probably last for 150,000 miles. While the Volt and Leaf are expensive, they can make financial sense for many people, depending on your driving pattern. There’s a calculator below in Sources that shows this.
