Treasure hunters claim to have found the remains of a British ship torpedoed during WWII filled with platinum, now worth a massive $3 billion (usd).
Maine-based Sub Sea Research found the SS Port Nicholson on the ocean bottom around 30 miles off the coast of Provincetown, Massachusetts. Spokesman Greg Brooks claims a US Treasury Department ledger indicates platinum bars were on board, as part of a payment from the Soviet Union to the US for war supplies.
The company claims to have video footage showing the platinum bars, although none of the bounty has yet been brought to the surface.
