After a nearly two-month hospitalization, legendary rapper Guru (best known as the frontman for Gangstarr) died Monday morning (April 19), after a long battle with cancer, reports DJPremierBlog.com.

He was just 43 years old.

Guru (real name: Keith Elam) rose to fame in the 80s as the frontman to the legendary rap duo, Gangstarr, also consisting of DJ Premier. The group released the classic single, “Words I Manifest,” which was followed by their critically acclaimed debut, No More Mr. Nice Guy, in 1989. The group went on to release six official albums through 2003, before they split and went their separate ways.

Guru went on to found 7 Grand Records, partnering with producer Solar, and embarked on a solo career.

R.I.P. Guru a true Hip Hop Legend.

The Freaknik this past weekend looked more like a set up to lock up more young black people in the city of Atlanta.  With all the major southern rappers already on lock down (FREE Gucci Mane, FREE Lil Wayne, FREE Lil Boosie, FREE C murder, the list can go on for days , the Atlanta Police looked to handcuff guilty til proven innocent, party goers in the streets of the ATL from Washington Park to the Underground.  Gwop staff reporter states, “It was more Police than Freaks in the streets of Atlanta, a very big disappointment for people who came from out of town, looking to have some fun.”

Freaknik isn’t what it use to be in the mid 90’s,  Alot of people have stamped this years 2k10 Freaknik as the  Weaknik’. More on the Freaknik after the jump.

The world’s most dangerous cities, according to CNN: Karachi, Caracas, Baghdad, Cape Town, Moscow. And Detroit?

CNN explains its methodology: Cited from data collected by Mercer’s latest global report on personal safety and Foreign Policy magazine’s most recent report on murder rates, as well as reports by Forbes and security watchdog Citizen’s Council for Public Security (CCSP), we have compiled a list of those considered among the most dangerous.On April 6, Detroit’s police chief, Warren Evans, reported that homicides fell 25% in the first quarter of 2010 compared with the same period last year. Hours later, however, came sobering news: Five men had been shot, four of them fatally, and police found another man in a burning car, the Detroit News reported.On Tuesday last week, Detroit Mayor Dave Bing presented a $2.9 billion budget that would enable the city to hire 50 new police officers each quarter, starting in July. The police force has been decimated in recent years by budget cuts and retirements. City Councilman Gary Brown, a former top police department official, warned of Bing’s proposed hires, “That’s nowhere near the number of police officers we need to attract businesses and people to the city.”
