Think Like A Man earned $17.6 million this weekend at the top of the domestic box office chart. Through the first 10 days in theaters, the movie has already made $60 million, which makes it the highest grossing movie of April 2012.

20 years ago this week began one of the most destructive riots in US History.

A jury verdict in the infamous beating of Rodney King set off the Los Angeles riots in which 53 people died, more than 2,000 were injured and property damage totaled $1 billion.

For more than a year, the people of Los Angeles had been watching the video of four police officers beating King at the end of a pursuit in Lakeview Terrace. On April 29, 1992, the world was watching when the verdict came in for officers Timothy Wind, Laurence Powell, Theodore Briseno and Sgt. Stacy Koon. All of the defendants were acquitted, except for one count against Powell in which the jury could not decide.

Young adults from affluent families are more likely to live at home than their poorer counterparts, a new study from Australia’s Melbourne Institute has found (via the Wall Street Journal). Three quarters of 20-year-olds from wealthy backgrounds live at home, while less than two-thirds of young adults whose families used welfare still rely on them for financial support, the report finds.

It only takes half a second for Google to return a search based on keywords you type in, but there’s a whole lot more happening behind the scenes to give you the results you need. Google on Monday launched a video that explains the science behind how the massive search engine actually works.

Matt Cutts, software engineer head of Google’s webspam team, details in a YouTube video how the search engine giant thoroughly scours the web on a daily basis to provide the most up-to-date results to users.

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — When is a penny worth $1.15 million? When it is a rare experimental penny minted in 1792.
The unusual coin was auctioned off Thursday at the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center in suburban Chicago.
Officials with Heritage Auctions say Kevin Lipton of Beverly Hills, Calif., bought the penny on behalf of a group of unnamed investors. The winning bid was $1 million, but the investors also must pay the auction house’s 15 percent commission. Read More
