On Wednesday, Facebook revealed the most talked-about events on the social network for 11 countries, including the U.S., U.K., Australia and France.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the single most talked about event in the U.S. was the presidential election, followed by the Super Bowl and the death of Whitney Houston, the last of which was a top trending topic in several other countries as well. Hurricane Sandy ranked fourth on the list in the U.S.

15-Year-Old Kelvin Doe is an engineering whiz living in Sierra Leone who scours the trash bins for spare parts, which he uses to build batteries, generators and transmitters. Completely self-taught, Kelvin has created his own radio station where he broadcasts news and plays music under the moniker, DJ Focus.

Kelvin became the youngest person in history to be invited to the “Visiting Practitioner’s Program” at MIT.

Neil Papworth, a software programmer from Reading, UK sent the first SMS (text message) in 1992.

Psy’s viral music video hit “Gangnam Style” just passed Justin Bieber’s “Baby” to become the most popular video in the history of YouTube. The video has now been watched over 805 million times. The video made its YouTube debut on July 15 and currently has over 5.3 million likes and about 320,000 dislikes.

Jack Taylor sets NCAA record scoring 138 points

The Grinnell College sophomore guard scored an NCAA-record 138 points during the Pioneers’ 179-104 win Tuesday night against Faith Baptist Bible College in an Iowa-school Division III matchup.

Taylor, a 5-10, 170-pound guard from Black River Falls, Wisconsin, shot 52-of-108 from the field, 27-of-71 from 3-point range, and 7-of-10 from the free-throw line to finish with the historic, head-shaking line of 138 points.
