Willie D of Geto Boys speaks on Cough Syrup

HOUSTON – Since the late 1990s, it has been glorified in rap music and become a part of underground Americana.Individuals who have actually turned over the counter cough syrup into their drug of choice.  Houston legendary rapper Willie D of the Geto Boys knows just how dangerous the misuse of cough syrup or as some call it “robo-tripping” can be.  He’s seen some heavyweight Houston entertainers die as a result of the abuse of codeine in cough syrup.  “After the death of Big Moe and DJ Screw, people took notice how he died,” Willie D says.
