Philadelphia rapper and self-proclaimed broad street bully, Beanie Sigel was sentenced to two years in prison at the U.S. District Court in Philadelphia today, for failing to pay more than $728,000 in taxes dating back to 1999.

Chinese e-commerce site Alibaba has bought half of Yahoo’s stake in the company — 20% of Alibaba’s shares — back from Yahoo for $7.1 billion.

Under the terms of the agreement, Yahoo will sell half its stake in Alibaba for at least $6.3 billion in cash and up to $800 million in new Alibaba preferred stock. Read More

Filmmaker Spike Lee is currently in the final stages of post-production of a Michael Jackson** documentary that focuses on the King of Pop’s album Bad and ensuing world tour.

The film, which syncs up nicely with the album’s 25th anniversary, features 40 interviews done by Lee with Jackson’s confidants, choreographers, musicians and other collaborators. Lee also interviewed contemporary stars from Kanye West to Sheryl Crow (a backup singer on the Bad tour) about the album’s lasting influence.

Homicide increased by 11 percent in 2011 in Detroit as compared to 2010.
